Fly Tv reactions and fly patterns explained
It is finally out there! The fly tv episode Pontus Sjölund, Steffan Jensen and I made on Gotland this spring. There is no major spoiler in this text, you can read through this post and still enjoy the episode afterwards. In the past I have been questioned on my belly boat fishing, and told that it is dangerous and not worth the hassle. However, I have always loved this style of fishing and I think that it adds a new dimension to the traditional sea trout fishing. Of course th

2017 in rewind
A year with so many opportunities for me and it doesn't seem to stop for coming years either since exiting plans are taking form for 2018 and 2019 already! But let's press pause for a while and summarise what happened. During the past year I have published 26 posts on the blog so it receives a good attention from me but very irregular. That can be traced to that things are happening. Life itself is irregular and so have this platform to be when it is run by myself. Sometimes

Single or double for Ammarnäs trout?
The trout population in Ammarnäs is something well known in the fly fishing genres. I have been a keen angler for this fish since the last three seasons. They grow big and are stunningly beautiful to watch. Like with every other fish, the big ones are always hard to catch and here there are only big fish being caught. The average size of the fish is about 70 cm. I have some equipment that I prefer to use and over these years I have used both single handed rods as well as doub

The best time for Tjuonajokk Grayling
Grayling fishing has been a great part of my life for many years. Since 2007 I have been spending every summer without any exceptions near grayling waters. The most epic place I have ever experienced is Tjuonajokk and this is where the idea for this blog post emerged. Many ask me about what is the best time to catch grayling in Tjuonajokk and I use to say that it doesn’t matter what week if it is somewhere in the period July-August. The summer is short and the fish need to fe

Laivajukke Dry-Fly Land
I'm looking at our pilot. He smiles and I can see how his eyes finding a focus on the horizon further to the left of my position while at the same time making a strong turn. We are now facing straight towards the cliff we have been flying next to for a couple of hundred meters. I can here the passengers behind me screaming just like they did when we took off. They had never been in a helicopter before and their eyes told me they had enjoyed the ride. Until now! It wasn't lon

The terrible day that turned into 75 cm Sea Trout on fly
This is the largest sea trout I have caught this season and I feel very pleased to finally been able to hold a fish like this because I have been so unlucky when getting hooked up with a big fish the last 1,5 years. When landing a fish this size you get many questions in subjects like: Where did you catch it? How far out did it take? What fly did you use? and so on. So I thought I'll write about all the facts about the fish down below combined with some pictures I yet haven't

12 basic dries and nymphs for your Tjuonajokk or Ammarnäs trip
There is a lot of curious fly fisher's waiting for the snow and ice to melt in the Swedish Lapland. Actually, we just closed the spring season and stopped having guests for skiing, experience Sami culture, snowmobile driving and ice fishing. Now when the days are getting warmer it is time for the snow and ice to melt. The perfect time to tie some flies for the summer! I made a quick collection of flies listed below. I haven't tied myself, these are some flies from Fly Dressin

Mulkkis - The pink shrimp
One of those unique flies for Seatrout fishing, this pink carrot looking fly can be really effective sometimes. The shape is something you can cut down yourself. It is a Finnish style fly that is very popular in our neighbor country and something they use to bring with a lot of confident when they travel to us at FishYourDream- Gotland. Here is @tapanihen with a seatrout caught on Mulkkis last week. He counted down the depth with the Vision Kust line for 15 seconds before sta

Magic Head-Fly for Night Fishing
Here is a useful pattern when night fishing for big trout in Ammarnäs or Tjuonajokk. I think it is a bit odd compared to what most people fish with in rivers. My favorite way to fish this fly is in a deep and slow pool. Preferably with a floating or slow intermediate line in late August, when the nights turn really dark. The aggressive movement of the fly will be a very visible silhouette towards the sky. This fish above is caught in Ammarnäs the summer 2015. I am so happy wh
