Fly Tv reactions and fly patterns explained
It is finally out there! The fly tv episode Pontus Sjölund, Steffan Jensen and I made on Gotland this spring. There is no major spoiler in this text, you can read through this post and still enjoy the episode afterwards. In the past I have been questioned on my belly boat fishing, and told that it is dangerous and not worth the hassle. However, I have always loved this style of fishing and I think that it adds a new dimension to the traditional sea trout fishing. Of course th

Five Different Eelpout
I have been spinning on some ideas about different kinds of eelpout flies. One of my favorite kind of fish to imitate. Especially since they very often hang out of the gills of the sea trout. They flounder around a lot. When a sea trout spot them they often hit them hard, the problem is as you understand to swallow them. They are often active early in the spring and grow quite big for still being on the diet of a sea trout. Sounds perfect for a fun day at the coast, right?! H

Magic Head on the coast - How and When?
The innovating movement of this fly is astonishing. The Magic Head will change the way you fish and the way fish react to your flies. Flipped forwards, the magic head will give your patterns more of a side-to-side action than any other fly. I have got several questions regarding magic head on the coast and there have even been rumors that they don't work on Gotland. Here I will cover the basics of what it is and talk about when is the most beneficial to try to tie one on. It

Magic Head-Fly for Night Fishing
Here is a useful pattern when night fishing for big trout in Ammarnäs or Tjuonajokk. I think it is a bit odd compared to what most people fish with in rivers. My favorite way to fish this fly is in a deep and slow pool. Preferably with a floating or slow intermediate line in late August, when the nights turn really dark. The aggressive movement of the fly will be a very visible silhouette towards the sky. This fish above is caught in Ammarnäs the summer 2015. I am so happy wh

The schlappetizer fly
It’s so fun to go back to what you use to do in the past. Tying zonker’s and streamers with rubberlegs is something I love to do and something I use to do since many years. To apply it to what to what now is possible when so much has happened to the flytying materials and flyting styles can make some cool patterns! I had such a nice response on a similar fly but with a deer hair head yesterday here so I thought I took the ide one step further with this articulated fly. The id

Flashy Wolly Bugger
Its nice when something fresh from the vise gives result, both for my guests and myself! I made half a dussin right away of this pattern last week. There is no coincidence that it works so good, wolly bugger is a great pattern that's used worldwide and if I could only pick one color for autumn sea trout it would probably be copper. Even if its something I prefer for autumn fishing this will be a pattern you can use all year around, typical food for sea trout it may imitates i
