Sea trout fishing in strong wind
The wind you fear shows up on the weather forecast. I had to look twice before I realized it was true what I saw. Wind was supposed to hit peaks of up to 35m/s. Sea trout fishing in the Baltic Sea is heavily reliant of having appropriate winds, something I will explain more about more in this article. One person that sure knows the importance of good winds for catching sea trout on Gotland is my Fish Your Dream guide colleague Jerome Saunders. I called him up as soon as I had

Fly Tv reactions and fly patterns explained
It is finally out there! The fly tv episode Pontus Sjölund, Steffan Jensen and I made on Gotland this spring. There is no major spoiler in this text, you can read through this post and still enjoy the episode afterwards. In the past I have been questioned on my belly boat fishing, and told that it is dangerous and not worth the hassle. However, I have always loved this style of fishing and I think that it adds a new dimension to the traditional sea trout fishing. Of course th

Vision coastal lines range, what fly lines I use! 2018 update
This is a follow-up to one of the most read articles I have ever made on this blog. I often have questions about fly lines and my last post about lines are now outdated with so many new lines on the market, so it is the time that I present an updated version for season 2018. My old post will remain where it is but some lines are not on the market anymore and some new lines are so great I am sure they are here to stay for a long long time. I will go through and show when and f

How to rig a fly rod for pike. Complete guide
With pike fishing competitions like fly vs jerk, we have seen how effective this technique can be. To develop the technique even further there are so many things specially made for this fishing to be as effective as possible. Here I will go through everything about the equipment and answer every question imaginable. At least I hope so. What I sure know is that it is a great guide if you interested in starting pike fishing with fly rod or you are constantly bothered by your fr

2017 in rewind
A year with so many opportunities for me and it doesn't seem to stop for coming years either since exiting plans are taking form for 2018 and 2019 already! But let's press pause for a while and summarise what happened. During the past year I have published 26 posts on the blog so it receives a good attention from me but very irregular. That can be traced to that things are happening. Life itself is irregular and so have this platform to be when it is run by myself. Sometimes

5 book recommendations
It is not fishing season everywhere, why not take some time to enjoy a good book this winter and start the next season as a better fisherman? These are the first book recommendations on my blog, don´t expect any fiction literature here since that is something I rarely read. These are books that really have helped me in my fishing and to become a better guide. Three are in English and two in Swedish. When the book itself is in Swedish I have chosen to write the text in Swedish

Single or double for Ammarnäs trout?
The trout population in Ammarnäs is something well known in the fly fishing genres. I have been a keen angler for this fish since the last three seasons. They grow big and are stunningly beautiful to watch. Like with every other fish, the big ones are always hard to catch and here there are only big fish being caught. The average size of the fish is about 70 cm. I have some equipment that I prefer to use and over these years I have used both single handed rods as well as doub

Belly boat in both lake and sea
Extend the season of fly fishing on the coast or add a new dimension to your fishing in lakes. Fishing from a belly boat can truly be amazing. Here is a guide on how you get started and a review of two top of the market belly boats if you want to start taking belly boat fishing seriously. I have got the opportunity to try the Fish Cat Commander and Outcast Scout for 6 months. They are light and easy to store. For me, a belly boat is used for two completely different reasons w

Magic Head on the coast - How and When?
The innovating movement of this fly is astonishing. The Magic Head will change the way you fish and the way fish react to your flies. Flipped forwards, the magic head will give your patterns more of a side-to-side action than any other fly. I have got several questions regarding magic head on the coast and there have even been rumors that they don't work on Gotland. Here I will cover the basics of what it is and talk about when is the most beneficial to try to tie one on. It

The best time for Tjuonajokk Grayling
Grayling fishing has been a great part of my life for many years. Since 2007 I have been spending every summer without any exceptions near grayling waters. The most epic place I have ever experienced is Tjuonajokk and this is where the idea for this blog post emerged. Many ask me about what is the best time to catch grayling in Tjuonajokk and I use to say that it doesn’t matter what week if it is somewhere in the period July-August. The summer is short and the fish need to fe
