Steel brushed flies
Sometimes the most used flies work much better than the newly tied replica. This was definitely the case when I started tying smaller streamers with the long fiber dubbing from Fly Dressing's range for pike fly tying. It wasn't until I started brushing the finished fly with a steel brush that I got the results I wanted. The texture of predator dubbing is incredible. The closest similarity to this dubbing I can find is the Laser dub from hareline, which is perhaps one of the m

Fly Tv reactions and fly patterns explained
It is finally out there! The fly tv episode Pontus Sjölund, Steffan Jensen and I made on Gotland this spring. There is no major spoiler in this text, you can read through this post and still enjoy the episode afterwards. In the past I have been questioned on my belly boat fishing, and told that it is dangerous and not worth the hassle. However, I have always loved this style of fishing and I think that it adds a new dimension to the traditional sea trout fishing. Of course th

LEO Goldie
I'm so impressed with these new easy shrimp legs. Realistic and simple to wrap onto the hook. The legs are soft and move well in the water. My favorite color is the transparent dirt brown. It is a brilliant color that goes well with a sand color or pink like I have here. At the moment I fish this fly with a floating line, but that is mostly to do with it being wintertime and cold water. When the temperature rises during the spring I can for sure see myself fishing this patte

Float-aid worm
Do you want to find the most simple and fastest tied fly that you just can produce in big numbers in a variety of colors? Look no further! The Gothenburg pattern I couldn't be without, killer worm (dräparmask) This fly is just as stupid simple as it looks. It is a marabou feather on a hook. I tweaked it a little bit here to a killer worm with life west. Why I added a piece of foam is to get this fly more suspending. I also added a strand of electric ripple ice fiber. Just on

Vision coastal lines range, what fly lines I use! 2018 update
This is a follow-up to one of the most read articles I have ever made on this blog. I often have questions about fly lines and my last post about lines are now outdated with so many new lines on the market, so it is the time that I present an updated version for season 2018. My old post will remain where it is but some lines are not on the market anymore and some new lines are so great I am sure they are here to stay for a long long time. I will go through and show when and f

Magic Head on the coast - How and When?
The innovating movement of this fly is astonishing. The Magic Head will change the way you fish and the way fish react to your flies. Flipped forwards, the magic head will give your patterns more of a side-to-side action than any other fly. I have got several questions regarding magic head on the coast and there have even been rumors that they don't work on Gotland. Here I will cover the basics of what it is and talk about when is the most beneficial to try to tie one on. It

Pattegris - The Pink Piglet Fly
The fly I have chosen to give light to today is a real classic in the coastal fishing, both in Gotland and in other places. It has a great visibility in the water and a nice shrimp shape which works really good when the water is cold and during the whole spring. No fly-list for sea trout is complete without it. Here you can see what materials I use when I tie them. When selecting materials I like to have a nice blend between fluorescent and none fluorescent materials and choo

The terrible day that turned into 75 cm Sea Trout on fly
This is the largest sea trout I have caught this season and I feel very pleased to finally been able to hold a fish like this because I have been so unlucky when getting hooked up with a big fish the last 1,5 years. When landing a fish this size you get many questions in subjects like: Where did you catch it? How far out did it take? What fly did you use? and so on. So I thought I'll write about all the facts about the fish down below combined with some pictures I yet haven't

The J-Fly!
Here on Gotland, the water is getting slightly warmer and warmer. That means that fish imitations are getting better as well. This seatrout on the picture was caught on "The J-Fly". I came up with this fly by looking on different patterns like Crazy Charlie, Jiggyfly and some other saltwater patterns. So I made a "mix" out from those flies into one, the fly includes a lot of materials and takes a little bit of time to tie. So you might wonder who I am! My name is Jerome Saund

Mulkkis - The pink shrimp
One of those unique flies for Seatrout fishing, this pink carrot looking fly can be really effective sometimes. The shape is something you can cut down yourself. It is a Finnish style fly that is very popular in our neighbor country and something they use to bring with a lot of confident when they travel to us at FishYourDream- Gotland. Here is @tapanihen with a seatrout caught on Mulkkis last week. He counted down the depth with the Vision Kust line for 15 seconds before sta
